What is Stream 2 of the Canadian Digital Adoption Program?
CDAP Stream 2: The Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP) is a Government of Canada initiative that encourages and assists small and medium-sized Canadian businesses (SMEs) to increase their digital maturity by adopting new digital technologies.
For eligible SMEs that have successfully completed the Digital Needs Assessment (DNA), the CDAP will pre-approve them for a grant covering up to 90% of the cost of the digital adoption plan evaluated at a maximum of $15,000.
What is Stream 1 of the Canadian Digital Adoption Program?
CDAP Stream 1: Grow Your Business Online is exclusively for businesses that haven’t taken advantage of eCommerce opportunities yet. Support in this stream comes in the form of microgrants of around $2,400 to help with digital adoption costs and will be available for up to 90,000 small businesses. The grants can be used for various activities, including website development, search engine optimization (SEO), social media advertising, fees for eCommerce platforms, and more. Check out all of the solutions in the menu box.
In addition, CDAP participants will have access to “a network of digital experts to introduce and help them use their digital tools.”
The term eCommerce encompasses more than just the act of purchasing an item online rather than in a physical store. For service businesses, eCommerce could be integrating a solution to book appointments and pay online instead of in person. We can be creative when it comes to concept of eCommerce solutions.
This is a quick process and doesn't take more than a couple of weeks to get approved. Once approved, then you are able to start the process and begin your eCommerce campaign.
The Government of Canada, as part of the 2021 federal budget, announced the Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP). The goal of the CDAP program is to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to meet the challenges of the digital age and reach their full maturity. Eligible businesses can leverage this grant to pay for the services of a digital advisor (who has to be pre-approved for this by the gov’t). This advisor will work with companies to recommend emerging tech solutions to help them achieve their business goals and increase their competitiveness in the digital economy.
The grant covers up to 90% of the eligible cost of retaining the services of a digital advisor (that’s us!), up to a maximum grant value of $15,000, to develop a digital adoption plan. Businesses also have the opportunity to secure up to a $100,000 zero interest loan from the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) to facilitate the acquisition of new technology. You can also apply for a wage subsidy of up to $7,300 to hire a student or recent graduate to help achieve your digital adoption goals through a funded work placement program. There is another $2,400 grant to help with building an ecommerce site.
